This included delivery of a £1.3 million Rural Business Creation Scheme, a £900,000 Village Renewal Scheme and a £400,000 Rural Basic Services Scheme.Successful drawdown and delivery of Erasmus + funding of up to €560,000 and partnership working with 15 EU partners to deliver programmes to enhance entrepreneurship potential, increase apprenticeship uptake, and improve business design thinking. Successful drawdown and delivery of Interreg grant of €160,000 and partnership working with 12 other EU partners to deliver a £3.2 million capacity building programme for social enterprise organisations. Management of the Council’s £400,000 European Social Fund Employment Match Funding Programme for those ‘hardest to reach’ within the labour market.
Community Development Officer
In my role as Development Officer with Rural Community Network (April 2006 - December 2008), I was responsible for co-ordinating networking support at a regional, sub regional and local level. Core work included strategic mentoring and support to 24 development staff of 12 Northern Ireland wide Sub Regional Rural Support Networks and the co-ordination of networking opportunities for 800 member groups from the community & voluntary sector to share good community development practice. As a senior member of the Community Development Support Unit (CDSU) I was also tasked with achieving quarterly targets, managing the CDSU budget, the provision of line management support to administrative staff and the preparation and presentation of reports, research and policy papers on issues affecting rural communities such as the Review of Public Administration, Community Planning, PPS14, Water Charges, DARD’s Rural strategy and the Rural Development Programme.As Community Project Officer for Rural Community Network’s Rural Community Estates Programme (April 2003 - March 2006) I developed and implemented a targeted weak community infrastructure programme that helped to initiate, develop and implement six social, economic and environmental projects within rural housing estates in Northern Ireland.
