Development chemist working on emission control catalysts in Clean Air sector, Johnson Matthey. Contributing to global development of best-in-class SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and ASC (Ammonia Slip Catalysis) technologies, and optimising products for specific customer programmes for Light-Duty and Heavy-Duty Diesel applications. Supporting the introduction of new technologies into production.

The SIAS scheme is sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Through Imperial's outreach department we regularly deliver spectroscopy workshops to year 12/13 students across schools in London. This gives the students the chance to gain hands-on experience with university equipment, practice identifying chemicals based upon their spectra, and to ask questions to current university students. The emphasis is on using real-life contexts to demonstrate the applications of the techniques discussed and to promote the study of chemistry at university.

I performed a number of Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) roles in the Chemistry Department during my PhD studies, including:- Marking of undergraduate 2nd/3rd year lab reports, including grading and giving detailed feedback- Practical in-lab demonstrating (2nd years), including running workshops to teach new techniques and answering student queries, problem-solving etc.- Face-to-face marking of undergraduate students' chemical samples and spectra, to assess product purity and yields- Additional roles: workshops, running NMR samples

During summer 2018, I participated in the Imperial College-Tsinghua University Global Fellows Programme in Climate Change and Energy, based at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The programme consisted of an intensive 1-week summer school, followed by a short research placement within the Chemical Engineering Department at Tsinghua, supervised by Prof. Xuebing Zhao (self-organised). The placement involved investigated the dehydration products of bio-based chemicals.

Worked on the Graduate Recruitment Bureau (GRB) stand at university freshers' fair to sign up students to GRB. Surpassed the target amount of sign-ups as part of a small team.

Research project - 'Introducing handheld Raman for identification testing of excipients in GA'- Investigated excipients for suitability for testing by handheld Raman. - Developed and validated a long list of methods for excipients such that they can be tested by Raman in place of FT-IR, improving time efficiency and GMP compliance- Trained more senior analysts to use the handheld Raman instrument- Collaborated with colleagues at Pfizer, Groton (US) in discussion and sharing of dataFully trained for GMP-qualified work in techniques including dissolution, disintegration, HPLC, FT-IRAttended Industrial Insights conference organised by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and presented a poster on my project work, for which I received a runner-up prize.
