Teach courses in Education, Mathematics, and Mathematics Education at Mary Baldwin University (MBU). Courses are taught online, face to face, and using a hybrid approach. In addition to teaching, research, and committee work, I advise students in the Post Baccalaureate Teacher Program, Master's of Arts, and Master's in Education programs. I have participated in several committees which have evolved as the college transitioned to operating as a university. The committees include instructional technology, educational policy, and assessment. I have been involved with the Quality Enhanced Program for the University which has a focus on quantitative reasoning and literacy. My work within the college of education includes a committee on field work and CAEP. My research is in two separate but compatible areas. My main interest is on the planning and implementation of rich tasks or inquiry-based teaching and learning of mathematics. Inquiry teaching and learning ideas are studied with how mathematics specialists (MS) might support mathematics teachers in their efforts to facilitate instruction that meets students needs along with how to plan and develop engaging lessons of inquiry. Additionally, I have worked with MS to support them through the lens of high leverage practices. MS is an endorsement in VA but once they receive the endorsement there is no support, professional development (PD) or mentoring, that is provided to these individuals. High leverage practices (HLPs) for teachers have been studied, and shared, but now there is a need to determine how the MS can support the teacher's efforts and what are the practices that are the most beneficial for all stakeholders.

As part of two programs, Mathematics Educational Leadership and Secondary Education, I have worked with pre-service and in-service teachers. Pre-service in their quest for licensure teaching methodology courses and overseeing fieldwork and internships, Inservice teaching various mathematics for teaching courses, curriculum development, and the final internship/research class.

Worked with and provided professional development for secondary mathematics teachers. Also supported the mathematics specialists (K-8) in their work with teachers in the lower grades.
