The Quality Improvement Specialist RN (QIRN) partners with the Clinical Manager, Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Leader and Clinical Nurse Specialist at the unit level to: • Identify opportunities for and implement changes in practice/process and then measure the impact/resulting improvement from those changes • Provide nursing management and nursing staff with expert advice, research, education, and tools that enable them to continually improve the care they provide to patients. • Ensure the quality initiatives set forth by the organization are fully operationalized • Identify opportunities to continually improve the safety and care provided at the bedside through data collection, analysis, education and competency assessment • Apply and teach Performance Improvement methods • Assure the improvement activities are documented and reported within the organization • Develop and implement strategies to reduce variability in practice and ensure optimal patient outcomesThe QIRN works under the direction of the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Department.Pam Brady, RN, BSN, has been at Gundersen Lutheran since May of 2005 when she started as a critical care nurse. She graduated in March of 2012 with her BSN from University of Phoenix. As a Quality Improvement Specialist for Critical Care, Pam is passionate to foster improvement in the Critical Care, to assist the unit to function at a peak level of excellence. This is achieved by identifying opportunities for implementation of changes in practice, and measuring the impact for optimal sustainability and improvement.
