Emergency Departments At St. John'S, Woodwinds And Fairview Lakes Hospitals

I’m responsible for supporting the clinical practices of nurses working in 3 different Emergency Departments. I work to support/promote evidence-based practices as well as provide clinical expertise/mentorship at the stretcher side as needed. I'm involved in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects/initiatives these facilities. I’m currently facilitating ED policy integration with 9 other Emergency Departments across our healthcare system. I’m collaborating to integrate ED practices, including order set and pre-provider standing orders, as well. Interdisciplinary work includes representing the Emergency Care perspective for systemwide care maps for congestive heart failure, stroke and pain management. I have been heavily involved in order set development & revision, as well as helping staff utilize the EHR (Epic) to its fullest extent. I retired June 2024, BUT I remain open to contract work that utilizes my skill sets on a PRN basis.

Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (Ltach ) - Bethesda Hospital

I'm responsible for supporting the clinical practices of nurses working in ventilator, telemetry and step-down respiratory units. I work to support/promote evidence-based practices as well as provide clinical expertise/mentorship at the bedside as needed. I'm involved in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects/initiatives both at my facility as well as in those that also include the 3 short-term acute care hospitals (STACHs) within the healthcare system. During my tenure, I worked to increase the acuity of patient populations cared for at the LTACH. I led projects that resulted in our nurses being able to successfully, competently and compassionately care for LVAD patients; this was a collaborative project with VAD implanting centers from 2 other healthcare systems. I also led projects that resulted in patients with well insulin infusions and sedation infusions being able to be cared for at my facility. I provided Epic education for providers prior to our Epic “Go-live” in June 2014. I provided nursing support during the “Go-live.” I worked closely with Epic analysts during order set builds to support the speciality populations (e.g. LVAD, insulin & sedation infusions). I’m well-versed in Epic and have a strong interest in its ongoing capabilities to bring functionality to the bedside as well as data collection for continuous improvement. I’ve passed my Lean Bronze exam; portfolio submission is pending.

Staff RN. Responsible for triage and direct care of patients of all ages who may present w/various signs/symptoms of acute illness (physical, emotional, mental) and/or trauma. Collaborated w/healthcare team including physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, radiology technicians, and laboratory professionals to provide seamless, professional and timely care. Responsible for provision/monitoring patients w/conscious sedation who were undergoing various procedures, e.g. colonoscopies, bronchoscopies, bone marrow biopsies, gastroscopies, orthopedic reductions requiring sedation, etc.
