About Pedro Amaral
Problem solving and solution implementation is one of my favourite things. Professor in Telecommunications at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade Nova de Lisboa responsible for a Network managment and configuration course and a Service and aplications in Networking course. In the last years I have been teaching at graduate college level and producing innovative peer reviewed work in computer Networks as a researcher involved in several public and private funding projects.In terms of scientific research my main interests are in Network Science and machine Learning. I try to apply some of that science in applied problems, such as service provider, data center and enterprise networking challenges brought by cloud computing and network virtualization. I also have interest in routing protocols modelling and Traffic Engineering and a taste for software development. I am also actively envoved in protocols with network vendors to support research and teaching in Software Defined Networking.
