MIT’s fraternities, sororities, and independent living groups (FSILGs) have a long, collaborative history with MIT. Approximately 40% of MIT undergraduates are members of an FSILG, and there are 30,000+ living FSILG alumni. 20% of undergraduates reside in 34 FSILG houses, which are primarily owned by non-profit alumni corporations and are located in Boston, Cambridge and Brookline.
