In this role, I was responsible for the general test management of the testing effort on projects. This included producing test estimates, test strategies plans, collaborating with various teams to work out test scenarios, test execution, defect management and reporting.

This role enabled me to expand my testing skills into the API area and learn new tools such as Postman and Newman. It was also a good experience in time management as some team members were based offshore on a different time zone. Leading the team in sprint ceremonies also enhanced my skills and experience in the Agile methodology.

In this position, I was responsible for managing the workload and training for the test team, as well as analysis and testing on various projects and support issues. I also overhauled the test process to be less document-intensive by introducing mind maps to replace scripted testing and moving towards Context Driven testing. This position has enriched my testing experience as it encompasses managing the test process, the team and the testing itself.

The project I worked on was to replace the existing software that was used to implement various small projects for external clients. The test team’s mission was to ensure that the (re-built) implementations still worked the same as the existing ones.

While this was essentially a Test Analyst position, it was on a wider scope as it encompassed not only the testing processes and activities, but also building relationships and identifying new opportunities for Fujitsu. I was assigned to Medical Assurance Society (MAS) where I worked on several different projects for this client.

This position presented the opportunity for me to utilise both my analytical and testing skills as it required an ability to see the “big picture” while having a keen eye for detail. I was involved in projects from various industries such as the banking sector, government agencies and private enterprises. These projects varied from paper-based output (statements or cheques) to document archiving and GUI applications.

The project covered areas of Material Management (MM), Finance & Costing (FI/CO) and Industry Specific - Hospital (IS-H). The first module to be implemented was FI/CO, followed by MM. Subsequently I was involved in 2 upgrades - from 3.0F to 4.02A, later to 4.03B.
