Tanzu is primarily focused on providing a suite of tools and products for managing, building, and deploying containerized applications and Kubernetes clusters within modern cloud-native environments. Identifying all open-source dependencies used in our environment and what possible vulnerabilities are present is not easy to find. Not knowing these answers creates security, license compliance, privacy, and trade export risks. Many customers have not solved these challenges and are thus assuming significant risk; meanwhile, the market has not provided a clear-cut solution. Our north star is to provide the foundational data for Tanzu customers' secure software supply chain. We accomplish this by: • Improving on the idea of Grafeas by supporting querying and data relationships • Creating the bridge between our store and policy enforcement tool(s) • Prioritizing data that is actionable, verifiable, & complete • Proving the data is not tampered. Ingest vulnerability data, image data, and package data (CycloneDX and SPDX) • Provide an API to answer questions about the security and vulnerability data.
