I have been an integral part of the Marketing and Business Intelligence CoE’s at Microsoft. I was one of the initial members of the Marketing CoE Team, joining as a Senior Program Manager, during the inception phases and played a pivotal role in growing the Hyderabad team from 10 members to 62 members over a period of 15 months. I eventually led the Program Management team of 7 Program Managers in India with a portfolio of projects worth $5 million. The role involved working closely with the Leadership of the Marketing business to help them leverage the data to achieve their milestones. I was a part of all half-yearly planning meetings, which included business stakeholders, at the Microsoft US offices. Also handled a portfolio of projects for Microsoft Services with the BI CoE Team. Received multiple awards for Excellence in Project Delivery and Stakeholder Management.

This role was one of the very early Product Manager roles based out of India. The responsibilities included creating functional specifications, customer engagement for issues and feedback and delivery of periodic releases for the Oracle BI product. I had the opportunity to represent the Oracle BI product team during the Oracle Open World in 2006 in San Francisco, and being an instructor in the X-Treme hands-on workshops for customers.

This role was primarily BI Consulting for the North America clients. Initial engagement was around the data integration project for an Information Technology leader for implementing their federated data warehouse on the Microsoft BI stack. I also contributed for a technology and capability demonstration in the pre-sales stage, with one of the leaders in the power generation equipment industry, leveraging the latest business intelligence and reporting features on the Oracle BI stack. We eventually secured the deal, competing against the consulting team from the same product vendor.

This project was implemented for churn analysis, to identify potential customers likely to churn, and help the marketing and service teams to align their efforts accordingly. This project was delivered using SAS as the analytics tool on the Oracle database.

This role was aligned to delivery of data warehousing projects for external clients apart form a few key engagements within Godrej & Boyce. In this role, I worked on a variety of assignments including implementation of Sales Data Marts and user trainings at client locations across India. The clients included leaders in the manufacturing domain including heavy equipment, steel, automobile parts, plastics, etc. The technology used was Microsoft SQL Server BI. I also contributed to the in-house ERP development.

Implementation and support of banking software in banks all over India. Participated in critical time bound roll outs and post production support.First look at SQL Server BI with development and implementation of reporting modules on multidimensional cubes. The clients included leaders in the Indian banking sector.

Development of value add programs that were supplied as a part of Computer Desktop sales. This also involved training users on IBM ViaVoice speech recognition software.
