About Paris Riley

I am a Graphic Designer with an Associate's degree in Visual Communication from Sinclair Community College. I also have a certificate in Design Processes and Digital Design. I am also a current student at Columbus College of Art and Design in advertising and graphic design working to get my BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts). I have been working in graphic design since a junior in high school which was 2015. In 2016 my design won runner-up at Sinclair's Tech Prep Showcase against other design teams. Throughout my time designing over the years, I've found a passion for creating branding identities for companies and being able to create unique packaging. My personal designer goal would be to own my design studio with a group of fellow designers while being able to take in interns to help them gain the knowledge and experience before graduating and making their way into the industry.

Started as a cashier, handling money and transactions. I would troubleshoot any computer issues with our self-checkout machines or our registers, including cash strips when our drawers held too much money and became a safety/robbery concern. Handled returns and any issues with customers at the customer service desk, as well as releasing any product that was bought online for store pick-up and answered any phone calls, and directed them to the appropriate department.Moved to the paint department where I helped customers find complementary colors for their desired color palette. I helped customers understand and buy the correct product for their projects and jobs, balancing multiple contractor jobs. This also allowed me to create custom paint colors for customers. Stocking shelves and keeping aisles and work station clean. Troubleshooting any issues with our paint machines or mixers, and refilling our tint drums when running low.Moved to the millwork department where I work with windows and doors. Here I balance multiple customer accounts, set up measures for our customers, enter the data into their accounts, and build custom quotes for their installs. Then I would design custom-build products (exterior doors, interior doors, garage doors, storm doors, windows) based on the data in their account, contacting both customer and vendor as needed for questions about account and product. Processed and sold installs and doors required for the install. Once sold, days leading up to the install date I would personally go and pick the items for the install and have them set aside for our installers to pick up the next day for the job.
  • Rue21
    Retail Sales Associate
    Rue21 Mar 2017 - May 2018
    Beavercreek, Ohio, United States
Here at rue21, I was in charge of running the cash register which entailed checking customers out, processing returns, signing customers up for our email newsletter, applying discounts, and end of shift counting out the drawer. When I was not running the register, during business hours I was helping clean and maintaining the fitting rooms for customers, clearing out the fitting room clothing racks. Then I would go around each department and make sure the area was clean, stocked, and folded nicely. I was also in charge of keeping an eye on different products to ensure theft wasn't happening and reporting it to my store manager and mall security when it did occur. At the end of the shift when the store closed, I was in charge of going around and cleaning mirrors, sweeping floors and checking for any misplaced items, and putting them in their correct spots. Once a month we were to come in after closing or during days we closed early to break down sale wall displays and rebuild them according to the planogram, and to re-stock the entire store of the new products we were shipped.
  • Mcdonald'S
    Crew Trainer
    Mcdonald'S Jan 2015 - Jul 2016
    Dayton, Ohio, United States
I was first hired as a crew member working the front end. On the front end, we had different jobs and different stations we were to run depending on our manager's plan for the night. I would run the front inside counter taking orders and processing money, then I would go to our runner station where we were to bag up the orders in a timely manner and hand it out to our customers. When not taking care of orders, I would clean the dining room tables, chairs, bathrooms, and drink stations. When I was not on the front end, I would run the window which meant I would hand orders out, prepare the drinks for customers and make sure napkins, straws, and sauces were in the correct bags. The final area I would be placed was the back drive-thru which is where I would take drive-thru orders, I would process the money for all drive-thru orders, and then I would do dishes in my downtime when our line was empty.I was promoted to Crew Trainer, which I took classes to learn the different areas of the entire store. Then whenever a new hirer was brought in, it was my job to properly train them, quiz them, monitor them, and help whenever needed. Then through the month, I was given two names I was to talk to and hand out a pop-up quiz to ensure our current employees still knew our proper policy and practices. Once grading the quiz I was to enter it into the system so our store manager, general manager, and district manager could review.
