Parneet Kaur is a sustainability and women empowerment advocate who is reinventing diplomacy and advocacy through the power of storytelling. As an emerging Indian poet who debuted at COP15, Montreal in December 2022, she has performed at international conferences such as COP28 in Dubai, UNFCCC's Paris Committee on Capacity Building (PCCB), the 53rd St. Gallen Symposium and Swiss-Indian TEPA session in Switzerland.As a creative communicator working at the intersection of sustainability, policymaking, and empowerment, she has reined in her interests to establish an international youth-led creative movement called 'Poetry for Planet', which aims to empower and heal the climate community by reimagining the climate narrative through a decolonial and intersectional lens. Last year, during India's Presidency of the G20 , world’s premier forum for international economic cooperation - she served as the Senior Associate of Y20, (the official youth consultation forum of G20). As part of Y20 India Secretariat, she worked on the theme of Future of Work and also advocated for the inclusion of indigenous communities in the official Y20 communique. She represented Y20 India in the first-ever panel on ‘Y7 & Y20 leaders shaping a sustainable food future’ at the World Food Forum in Rome. As an advocate for the inclusion of marginalized women in the larger policy architecture, she launched her initiative, Girl Up Zubaan, in 2021 to redefine feminism through an intersectional lens. In 2021, she served as the Advisor to JED Child Trust Foundation, a Nigerian NGO targeting SDG 4 : Quality Education, thus enhancing access to quality education for African students. Her commitment to climate action and social issues is as local as it is global, as noted in her nomination as the Impact Officer of the Global Shapers Hub, Chandigarh under the World Economic Forum. She has additionally been nominated as the Assistant Secretary of Chandigarh United Nations Association.She was chosen as one of the 100 'Leaders of Tomorrow' to be part of the oldest intergenerational conference in the world, the St. Gallen Symposium. The UN75 dialogues for India were conducted by the United Nations in collaboration with Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL).As selected delegates, we were responsible for conducting proactive deliberations and discourses with expert stakeholders and the youth. We organised a variety of dialogues and competitions for community outreach and general awareness.• As part of the National Team, I organized and facilitated dialogues on Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality and Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong institutions.• As part of the Punjab State team, I led dialogues with the youth on problems plaguing Punjab with emphasis on possible resolution through the realisation of Sustainable Developement Goals 2030. The deliberative exercise spanning over four months culminated in the sharing of the reports and papers prepared during the course, consolidated by CYL with Secretary-General, António Guterres who presented it to the UN General Assembly. -
