Having significant experience of working within complex care scenarios within nursing homes and hospices over many years, I have now founded pobworks ltd to serve as a creative platform to find practical solutions to the many challenges facing today's carers (either within the professional workforce or at home). My first product the "pobroll" significantly improves the bed bathing experience for both the carer and the cared for. It allows for a proper wash to take place on the bed, while ensuring the person is kept warm and covered so that they need not feel embarrassed or get cold, while at the same time protecting the bed from getting wet. This reduces the strain on the carer as there is no need to change bed linen after every bed bath while increasing the dignity and respect afforded the person needing care. I was a Senior Physiotherapist working in the domain of Complex Care for the very frail and elderly with expertise in Safe Patient Moving and Handling and Falls. My employer (a charitable organisation) was the largest care provider in Cornwall (outside of the NHS), and I delivered training and expert advice across a wide range of nursing and care homes as well as domiciliary teams throughout the county and across organisational boundaries. I worked at strategic level of service development and improvement and linked in with the governance team regarding matters of quality assurance. I also delivered Conflict management training in specialist units caring for clients with complex presentations and behaviours which challenge.
