A few highlights over my 10+ years: * PI on $4 million in government contracts for robotics and vision projects. * Over $1,000,000 in commercial contracts for robotics research. * Led a small software team to 4th place in the 2013 DARPA Virtual Robotics Challenge (disaster response simulation) and 2013 DARPA Robotics Challenge Trials (disaster response using Boston Dynamics humanoid). * Onsite support at NASA JSC with their Valkyrie humanoid to advanced bomb retrieval and… Show more A few highlights over my 10+ years: * PI on $4 million in government contracts for robotics and vision projects. * Over $1,000,000 in commercial contracts for robotics research. * Led a small software team to 4th place in the 2013 DARPA Virtual Robotics Challenge (disaster response simulation) and 2013 DARPA Robotics Challenge Trials (disaster response using Boston Dynamics humanoid). * Onsite support at NASA JSC with their Valkyrie humanoid to advanced bomb retrieval and disposal tasks. * Designed and delivered the worlds first (and still only I believe) stereo thermal (LWIR) and RGB camera, which performed all processing (including lights out leader following and gesture recognition) onboard. * Software integration lead for what we believe to be the first high-volume, production-level ROS robotics cell in a Tier-1 automotive plant in North America. This used 2D and 3D vision to perform a flexible manufacturing task that traditional integrators were unable to perform. * Created multiple other proof-of-concept industrial cells for assembly and moving delivery of non-fixtured parts and housings. * Other past work includes: activity recognition systems, remote execution of robots using English language instructions, creation of the popular TRAC-IK inverse kinematics solver for ROS, author of first Velodyne, 1394 (Fireware), and Swissranger 4K 3D sensor drivers.
