John's technical education includes an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, and a master's degree in Computer Engineering.Prior to returning to higher education to pursue interests in pharmacology, physiology, and anatomy, John gained more than 20 years of experience with domestic and international patent prosecution for complex electrical technologies. His legal experience further includes technical analysis and claim interpretation of complex technology patents, and validity and infringement assessments for these patents. He has also taken active roles working with expert witnesses in licensing negotiations and litigation strategies.John has extensive experience with a broad spectrum of complex electrical and computer technologies. Some examples of these technologies include: microprocessor architectures; communication systems, including hardware (e.g., PHY layer) and software (e.g., data link layer) implementation aspects of 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ad, WiGig, 3G, 4G/LTE, and other standards and protocols; signal processing, including transmitter pre-distortion, non-linear amplifier gain control, and error correction coding techniques; femtocell architecture and operation, including standards based and non-standards based protocol interaction with user equipment; transistor level flash memory architecture and device operation; touchscreen design and implementation, including touchscreen scanning techniques; and electronic commerce, including cloud computing architectures, and inter-process communication techniques among business support systems and operational support systems.More recently, John graduated with distinction from Purdue University with a degree in Veterinary Nursing, and passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam required to become a Certified Veterinary Technician in Illinois. His work with animal welfare has led to significant experience preparing anesthetic protocol drugs for animals with surgical appointments; placing catheters for the administration of IV fluids and drugs attendant to surgeries; safely pre-medicating and inducing animals to appropriate anesthetic depth; maintaining anesthesia for animals undergoing surgical procedures; obtaining diagnostic samples from patients via jugular and cephalic venipuncture, cystocentesis, and fine needle aspiration; recovering animals from anesthesia after surgery; performing subcutaneous and intramuscular injections; and performing digital radiography to obtain diagnostic images of the thorax, abdomen, and extremities.
