Institute For Protein Design, University Of Washington Apr 2021 - Mar 2024
    Seattle, Washington, Us
I worked in Dr. David Baker's lab at the Institute for Protein Design. My projects focused on the de novo design of therapeutic protein binders comprised of non-canonical amino acids.
  • University Of Utah School Of Medicine
    Biochemistry Phd Candidate
University Of Utah School Of Medicine May 2016 - Apr 2021
    Salt Lake City, Ut, Us
I worked in Dr. Michael Kay's laboratory within the Department of Biochemistry. My thesis project was focused on developing chemical and computational tools to streamline chemical protein syntheses.
  • University Of Utah
    Biological Chemistry Graduate Student
University Of Utah Aug 2015 - May 2016
    Salt Lake City, Ut, Us
After graduating from Susquehanna University in May of 2015, I joined the Biological Chemistry PhD program at the University of Utah. As part of this program, I took several classes focusing on cutting-edge research being done in Biological Chemistry fields. I also rotated in 4 different labs, each of which was in a unique department (Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmacology & Toxicology).
  • Mayo Clinic
    Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow
    Mayo Clinic May 2014 - Aug 2014
    Rochester, Minnesota, Us
I worked on two main projects during my summer internship with Dr. Xiu-bao Chang and Dr. Qinqin Xu at the Mayo Clinic. The first project dealt with studying the molecular mechanism for the anti-multiple myeloma effects of immunomodulatory drugs and how cereblon, the target protein of immunomodulatory drugs, functions within biological systems. The second project that we worked on involved correcting genetic mutations found within cystic fibrosis patients. This internship allowed me to gain more experience with transformations and transfections, Western blotting, gel electrophoresis, cell culturing, and plasmid DNA extractions.
  • Susquehanna University - Organic Chemistry
    Model Student
Susquehanna University - Organic Chemistry Aug 2013 - May 2014
I was responsible for attending class everyday in order to take notes and to stay refreshed on the material being covered in class. I also held weekly recitations for the students in which they could ask questions that they had about various topics being covered in class, go over the weekly review sheets, or prepare for upcoming quizzes or exams.

    Undergraduate Research Program Student
    Duquesne University May 2013 - Jul 2013
    Pittsburgh, Pa, Us
I worked primarily with Dr. Ira Buckner and his graduate student, Jeffrey Katz, on a project entitled "Characterization of Several Pharmaceutical Compounds and the Use of Carnauba Wax to Improve the Compressibility of Problematic Materials." This internship helped me to greatly expand my knowledge in the field of pharmaceutics, learn how to collect data about pharmaceutical tablets with an Instron Universal Testing System, and prepare for the work and expectations of students in graduate school. I also was privileged to present this project at the 2013 AAPS annual meeting and exposition in San Antonio, Texas.
  • Susquehanna University - Cell And Organismal Biology
    Model Student
Susquehanna University - Cell And Organismal Biology Jan 2013 - May 2013
I attended each class on a regular basis and exemplified "model student" behavior, such as paying attention to the professor and taking important notes. I also held weekly review sessions for the students in which I reviewed the PowerPoint slides with them, thoroughly answered any questions, and gave practice quizzes and exams. In addition, I was always available to the students for help through email if they ever needed a private review session or just wanted to ask me a few questions about lecture or the laboratory.
  • Susquehanna University - General Chemistry Laboratory
    Teaching Assistant
Susquehanna University - General Chemistry Laboratory Aug 2012 - Dec 2012
I had the responsibilities of helping students finish their experiments by answering any questions that they had, assisting the instructor of the laboratory by getting necessary materials if they began to dwindle and making sure the students were doing the experiments correctly, and helping to make sure the laboratory was relatively clean at the end of class.
