With a background in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, complemented by a minor in Development Studies, I strive to make a positive impact on society and contribute to the betterment of marginalized communities. Throughout my journey, I have gained valuable experience working on diverse projects centered around sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, and the rights of the LGBTIQ community. Currently, I hold a pivotal role as a project officer at Family Planning Association Sri Lanka, where I am actively involved in the "Collective Action Against Period Poverty" initiative, aiming to promote menstrual health and empower menstruators in Sri Lanka. During my time at Sri Lanka Centre for Development Facilitation, I contributed significantly to initiatives combatting Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and provided crucial humanitarian assistance. I was also the primary point of contact for public relations, ensuring SLCDF's visibility. As a project manager at the National Transgender Network Trust of Sri Lanka, I had the privilege of leading and executing projects that aimed to empower and uplift the transgender community. Apart from my professional experiences, I am an avid conceptual photographer. My photography focuses on themes such as women's freedom and challenging the perception that nudity is inherently sexual. Additionally, I have completed product shoots for various companies, adding diversity to my portfolio. Photography and videography have become powerful tools for my advocacy work, allowing me to capture and share powerful stories that shed light on the struggles and triumphs of marginalized communities, thereby raising awareness and promoting empathy for social issues.Furthermore, I take immense pride in my role as a trainer, conducting workshops and training sessions on case story writing, photography, and videography. Empowering others to share their stories and advocate for change is a gratifying aspect of my work.As a graduate from Asian University for Women and with specialized training in Social Media from Miami Ad School Sri Lanka, I possess a diverse skill set that enables effective communication and advocacy for the causes I am passionate about.I firmly believe that everyone deserves equal rights and opportunities, and I am dedicated to using my skills and expertise to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
