Researched technical and financial capabilities of over 30 storage startups and existing companies, leading to five “terms sheets”, and eventually two acquisitions and one spin-off. Investigated acquisitions of backup storage companies for Quantum’s DLTtape Group. Identified best candidate for acquisition (Benchmark Storage Inc), developed BOD and Executive Staff presentation materials to justify acquisition and the post-acquisition business models. Continued efforts on engineering due diligence team, post-announcement integration team and day-one business processes team. Acquisition solidified Quantum’s leadership in the space, filled a gap in the product roadmap, resulted in winning the business at several large OEMs and generated $160 MM in incremental revenue. Developed new concepts for storage devices that resulted in several patent applications (patents pending). Market research investigation of non-IT vertical markets for DLTtape Media Division, including Digital Video and Medical Imaging that resulted in industry leading product currently used by major news and entertainment customers.
