• Effectively deliver mental health education workshops and information to a variety of audiences and stakeholders to: - Help reduce the stigma of mental illness in our community - Raise the profile of CMHA with corporate and community partners - Highlight the importance of mental health, as well as the prominence and impact of mental illness - Contribute to promoting CMHA’s brand and mission• Delivering virtual mental health educational workshops such as; Managing Uncertainty, StressManagement, Living Life to the Full, Workplace Wellness, Responding with Respect, Tackling Stress and Anxiety and CMHA YRSS’ own workshops for corporate and community partners, government and community members.• Build upon existing relationships, cultivate emerging partnerships, identify new opportunities to drive increased community engagement and results, and foster long-term engagement and investment.

• Executed one-on-one support for a student with a mental illness and behavioural concerns, while also assisting the teacher and other students with various experiential activities in the classroom setting.• Developed and implemented an individualized accommodation plan in order to meet the student’s learning and behavioural needs in the academic setting which resulted in the student attaining established weekly goals.• Guided and supported the student with conflict resolution, positive engagement with other students and teachers, focus and participation on the task at hand, development of age appropriate coping strategies such as expressing their emotions through the use of verbal and non-verbal methods.• Supported the student with emotional regulation and self reflection by creating a board the student used to indicate how they felt their day went. This reflection was shared with the student’s parents to discuss the successes from the day and areas of growth to continue working on.

The workshop demonstrated the importance of suicide alertness and identifies ways people invite help when at risk.• Assessed sensitivity and comfort levels of 30+ workshop participants, identifying any trigger points or sensitive content discussed.• Acted as the first point of contact for triggered or distressed participants and assisted them in the next step of personal recovery, resourcing appropriate community supports and providing warm transfers to these supports.

MHEG is a student-run group that increases education and awareness both on and off the Laurier campus about the importance and reality of mental health, reporting directly to the Dean of Students.• Augmented awareness regarding mental illness and its prevalence in society by developing meaningful and engaging workshop curriculum and safe talk programs facilitated to 25+ residences, high schools and surrounding communities.• Educated community members on the realities of mental illness in an attempt to eradicate the negative stigma and inaccurate perceptions.• Cultivated a community of compassion and understanding with respect to the challenges of mental health issues and promoted the benefits of fostering an open dialogue, support, acceptance and encouragement.• Organized a variety of different events, such as the Love My Life 12-hour walk, Rootstock Conference 2014, and the Post Secret Campaign to create awareness and foster a safe space to share the realities of mental illnesses.

• Served as a counsellor for 40+ children and adolescents with a variety of developmental and/or physical disabilities.• Supported and taught children and adolescents, ages 6-17, both individually and in a group setting.• Assessed and advocated for the personal needs of each camper, ensuring that every camper was able to effectively engage and grow within a safe and supportive environment.• Tracked each camper’s personal progression throughout summer and presented this information to parents to discuss an appropriate action plan regarding how to continue supporting the camper's ongoing prosperity.
