I am an historian, animal lover and former museum administrator who founded the Museum of Maritime Pets 17 years ago. Our exhibits and programs are based on imtages and texts from around the world and spanning several millennia. We are always on the lookout for information and leads from museums, archives and libraries that contain information pertinent to our efforts. Many of the visuals in our collection have been provided by service personnel, curators and historians from around the world. Two years ago we relocated to coastal Maine to take advantage of the state's strong seafaring heritage and to testablish a home for our exhibits.Our work relies on student and other volunteers with a love of maritime history and the role of animals in the development of civilization.
