I began my professional life working for 16 years in Papua New Guinea as a linguist/anthropologist/community development specialist. I then spent five years in Virgina co-directing an international peacebuilding institute. I used photography in both positions.When I moved to Asheville, NC and bought a home there, I was disappointed that the realtors I talked with knew nothing about "green" homes. I became a real estate broker and took every class I could find to learn about green building and sustainable development and became certified as an environmental real estate consultant. I was passionate about "green" real estate; not so much about selling stuff, though. When I moved from NC to VT, I decided to leave real estate behind. The Aaron Stein video was part of a series of three that won a national 2013 Alliance for Community Media award.I enjoy helping people show, not just tell, their stories.
