About Patrick Banner

I am currently working toward a physics PhD at the University of Maryland, and I have a broad range of experiences and interests. In numerous technical aspects of my PhD research with Rydberg ensembles, I have made use of analytic and critical thinking skills to build devices, run code to answer questions, and develop creative ways to accomplish experimental goals. In my extensive teaching work, feature writing, and physics outreach work, I've worked to communicate complex issues in ways others can understand. In peer mentoring and teaching, I build others' ability and confidence to engage with and solve problems. And in my work in graduate student mental health, I use data to advocate for policy change. This wide variety of experiences and interests makes me a distinguished problem-solver, a leader in cross-functional collaboration, and an exceptional oral and written communicator, and I look forward to bringing these skills to future employment opportunities.
