For the past decade, I oversaw the Herald-Times sports department, which included between four and eight reporters and designers. I was responsible for the daily operations of the section, which including scheduling and assigning stories for reporters, maintaining a daily budget of stories, writing, editing and selecting copy, and designing pages. I was the liaison between the department and the public and the rest of the newsroom. I thrived under deadline pressure and produced a sports section that was ranked among the best in the nation consistently throughout my tenure.
