I am part of the Initial Teacher Education team at QMU. My focus areas are outdoor learning, creativity in education, Learning for Sustainability and critical pedagogies. I am working towards a PhD by publication researching creativity within pedagogies of outdoor learning. I am project lead for the development of the QMU Outdoor Learning Hub.Previously I developed the Forest College initiative at Newbattle Abbey College. I led in the development of the 'Forest and Outdoor Learning Awards’ that are now credit-rated as qualifications with the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. I also taught Communication, Literature, Creative Writing.In 2014 I founded ‘Create and Connect Learning’ to support learners and teachers to develop creativity within education. I led workshops and training for children and adults. My recent work builds on my experience as an English and Drama teacher and curriculum manager in High schools in Scotland, England the USA.
