Chancery Rehabilitation & Historic Restoration, US Embassy, Manila, Philippines - Significant expansion and historic renovation of building that was the location of the Japanese War Crimes Trials at the end of World War II. A difficult combination of program requirements, sensitivity to the historic structure, and the cultural significance of the place are all respected in the final architectural solution.Estimated Construction Completion - Third Quarter, 2020 New Consulate Compound, Paramaribo, Suriname - The project consists of a new embassy compound including a 5,400 square-meter chancery building, recreational building, warehouse, shops and access control buildings on a new 10-acre campus in the capital of the small South American country. The project was designed and documented for bidding in a nine-month period. Completed - September 2016 Awards - Global Best Project, Government Buildings - Engineering News-Record (2017) ; Citation Award, Portland Chapter, American Institute of Architects.Chancery Rehabilitation and Seismic Upgrade, US Embassy, Wellington New Zealand - After the earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand devastated the city in 2011, seismically upgrading the Embassy in Wellington became a priority for the Department of State. The design included working with the occupants of the building and the client in Washington D.C. to establish a phasing program that would allow the Embassy to maintain diplomatic functions throughout construction.Scheduled Construction Completion - October 2019New Embassy Compound, Vientiane, Laos - Bridging documents for new Embassy campus including 8,200 square-meter chancery office building, utility building, two-story parking garage and three access control buildings. Port of Portland, Headquarters and Parking Garage - Project Architect for LEED Platinum building showcasing the client’s commitment to sustainable practices while allowing the Port to consolidate its engineering workforce in an effort to increase collaboration and foster a team environment. The 205,603 SF building consists of three floors of office space atop seven floors of public airport parking.Awards - Merit Award - AIA Northwest and Pacific Region (2011), Smart Environments Award - IIDA / Metropolis (2010)Various IDIQ Projects for US Department of State - Participated in planning, site selection and feasibility projects with representatives of Bureau of Overseas Buildings. Projects included Mexico City, Mexico; Tijuana, Mexico; and Belgrade, Serbia.New Consulate Compound, US Department of State, Cape Town, South Africa - Project Architect for a Design-Build project under contract to Hensel-Phelps International. Participated throughout design and construction process, from initial site visit through building dedication. Led technical design team, coordinating with consultant team located in U.S. and South Africa, and General Contractor in Denver, CO. during design and Cape Town, South Africa during construction.Aquinas Hall, Dormitory and Dining Hall Expansion, Mount Angel Abbey, St. Benedict, OR - Project Architect responsible for design development, technical documentation, and construction administration for 4,000 SF dining hall expansion and 57-bed dormitory renovation for Roman Catholic Seminary in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.LDS Conference Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, UT - Developed exterior envelope solution for 20,0000 seat conference center, including close coordination with Landscape Architecture team from Olin Partnership for six-plus acres landscaped rooftop.
