The SBPA is the only association in Singapore that represents the book publishing industry. Book publishing in Singapore has grown in strength as a vibrant industry taking on the challenges and opportunities of the era of e-books, digital publishing and new media. The Association was formally incorporated on May 1968, with 22 company members, 14 of which were of Singapore origin. Practically all of the original members were engaged in the publishing, importation and distribution of textbooks. Today, the SBPA has 74 members engaged in a wide range of publishing, marketing and distribution activities. The SBPA is a member of the ASEAN Book Publishers Association and the Asia-Pcific Book Publishers Association. The SBPA aims to provide its members with information and advice to help them succeed in business both locally and overseas. The SBPA represents members at book fairs throughout ASEAN and further afield. It is also their aim to provide a friendly community in which Singapore-based publishers and related industry partners can pool knowledge and experiences
