As chair of the History Department, I supported my colleagues as we aimed to provide a rigorous and relevant education that would empower our young men to be better students and citizens. I taught various History and English classes over the course of my time at BRS, and also served as an adviser, house parent, and assistant coach for our varsity soccer and lacrosse teams.

As a full-time AmeriCorps member, I managed a team of part-time tutors committed to improving the academic performance and standards of healthy living for underprivileged students at Phillips Charter School in Napa, California.

At Altınbaşak High School in Isparta, Turkey, I taught English to about 300 ESL learners in grades 9-11. My lessons focused on speaking and conversation, and were designed to be fun and interactive.

For three seasons while attending Brown I also served as the Head Coach of The Wheeler School's Middle School lacrosse program. While the performance of my team was always secondary to sportsmanship and personal development, our record improved every season under my supervision.
