I am a dedicated educator with a passion for transforming lives through education. With a career spanning nearly fifteen years, I have served as both a teacher and an instructional coach, making a positive impact on students, teachers, and entire communities. My expertise lies in creating transformative learning environments and empowering students and teachers to reach their full potential.As an instructional coach at Akron Public Schools, North High School, I have collaborated with teachers, administrators, and students to achieve significant progress, improve achievement, and increase graduation rates. I take pride in consistently earning high ratings on state report cards for Overall Value-Added and Lowest 20% Value-Added. Over the years, I have witnessed remarkable increases in achievement across various subjects, such as English, Algebra, Geometry, Biology, US History, and Government. Moreover, I successfully secured a $10,000 grant to establish a mobile recording studio, enabling students to explore their identities through the arts.In addition to my instructional coaching role, I have a strong background as a teacher. I have taught 6-12th-grade Language Arts, 7-12 ELA to ELLs, Newcomer ELL ELA and various other subjects. Implementing research-backed strategies such as the SIOP model, Teacher Clarity, PBLs, IBLs, and many more. I have also played an active role in planning and implementing College and Career Academies models, as well as facilitating professional development sessions on dozens of topics related to high-quality instruction and educational technology.Throughout my career, I have embraced the responsibility of being an outstanding teacher. I firmly believe in the transformative power of education and its ability to uplift individuals, families, and communities. I have had the privilege of working with diverse student populations, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.I firmly believe that every student, regardless of their background, deserves a rigorous education. I approach my work with an asset-based mindset, seeking to leverage students' skills and interests, including their proficiency with technology, to enhance their learning experiences.As I continue my journey in education, I remain dedicated to empowering students and fostering a love for learning. I value the relationships I build with students, their families, and fellow educators.
