I provided legal advice on Australia's trade remedies framework to officers investigating claims of foreign trade practices which endangered the financial viability of the Australia's manufacturers or producers.My role involved conducing significant statutory interpretation of the Customs Act 1901 and associated legislative material. I also conducted research on Australia's legal obligations under treaties and WTO panel decisions.I also attend high level discussions between Australia and foreign governments (including WTO forums) and provided comments on prospective international instruments.

I assisted to deliver legislative and other legal instruments within the Treasury portfolio. This included on monetary and currency policy, taxation, deductible gift recipients, insurance policy, Tax Treaties and general amendments. I completed detailed legal research and policy analysis to construct drafting instructions and explanatory materials. Doing so I coordinated the delivery of legislative and other legal instruments. Furthermore, I drafted a number legal instruments, which were approved by the relevant ministers.

I provided legal advice to internal clients and assisted them to manage a range of external stakeholders, in furtherance of the Commonwealth strategic objectives.I provided advice on the statutory interpretation across the Treasury's departmental responsibilities. This included providing advice on the Banking Act, ASIC Act, National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation Act, and the Reserve Bank Act 1959. I also provided advice on other legislation such as the Administrative Law Act 1978 and NACC Act.I assisted on the O'Donnell matter and other significant litigation, including undertaking discovery, analysing and editing statements of claim, and coordinating intragovernmental communication.I also provided advice on other general legal matters, such as the review of contracts, the appointment of persons to statutory positions, intergovernmental agreement, and more.

I assisted his Honour in chambers and running the Court, including liaising with court officials, members of the profession, and the public. I also assisted his Honour to draft reasons and associated orders and I conducted legal research.Justice Ginnane is co-head of the Judicial Review and Appeals List. I was involved in matters that were:• General applications under common law for relief• Appeals from orders of the Magistrates' Court on questions of law• Appeals from orders of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on questions of law• Appeals from other bodies on administrative questions of law (including medical panels)• Appeals from orders of the Children's Court on questions of law• Referrals for determination of questions of law under the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006.
