Noted by IBM for his excellent consultancy and pre-sales work with their customers and as guest speaker on one of their seminars he was offered this function.His knowledge of the Candle Technology, which was acquired by IBM, was the basis for extending his pre-sales capabilities to the broader Tivoli Systems Management Suite.He often combines technical, writing and pre-sales skills to work on customer-oriented solutions. One extensive example is the sale of an IBM Tivoli Monitoring infrastructure to the European Commission to manage their pan-European fiscal information exchange network. Together with a business partner he worked on the proposal and designed, implemented and demonstrated a proof of concept model. Assisted the partner in their negotiations with the commission. After the contract was signed, upon request of the business partner, Patrick continued to advise the implementation team, and facilitated the resolution of impeding technical issues. In this role he answered many RFIs and RFPsHe enjoys teaching various ITM courses. Typically six to sixteen administrators or operators would attend, more is impossible because of the practical exercises. He always received positive reviews by attendees.

Cressida was a start-up of, initially, only ex-Candle employees. The activities fall in three categories: 1) deliver consultancy, mostly in the area of Candle products. 2) represent software vendors in Europe 3) develop new MQ-related products. Joining Cressida allowed Patrick to capitalise on previous professional experiences, while at the same time being engaged in something new for him: product development. He was the product manager for the tool called ReQuest for WebSphere MQ. He conceived this solution, wrote the specifications, proposed the architecture and performed quality assurance. Furthermore he created marketing material and white papers, performed pre-sales and after-sales support. All this in close cooperation with the programmers of the tool. Later he conceived the products InQuest, SynQuest, and CeQuest. He was hired by both Candle and by IBM to perform pre-sales and consultancy tasks at their customer's sites. Designed and implemented a solution for a Belgian financial institution to monitor WebSphere MQ on Tandem and on OpenVMS. Performed several months of consultancy at another financial institution, where he designed their MQ backup and recovery procedures, taught dozens of programmers WebSphere MQ, implemented and customised Candle's MQ monitoring and configuration solutions, created a customised portal for it, and taught both the administrators and operators on how to use it.
