Founding member of the Amazon Care team which rapidly took a new customer-focused approach to healthcare from idea to production nationwide in just a few years.My contributions included:- Leading the Consumer Experience organization which consisted of 6 managers and 50 engineers building features related to patient identity and authorization, new user onboarding and membership lifecycle, patient profile and family management, call routing, real-time and asynchronous clinical visits, and tooling for measuring user engagement and the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.- Single-threaded owner of the Amazon Care iOS and Android apps, which maintain an industry-leading 4.9 star rating in the App Store and Play Store with thousands of reviews.- Building effective partnerships to launch features successfully with numerous stakeholders including QA, Design, Product, Security, Legal, Compliance, IT, and various clinical customers including Operations, Customer Support, and our Care Providers. The technical landscape in this role was broad and included:- Building, deploying, and maintaining secure, compliant, and highly-available backend cloud services using technologies like AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and S3, as well as services like Simple Workflow and SQS for distributed and asynchronous workloads.- Building and publishing high fidelity and bug-free iOS and Android applications using modern frameworks like Swift, Swift UI, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, etc. These applications were highly complex and supported realtime video calling workflows. - Building and publishing web applications including our core internal clinical products as well as www.amazon.care. These applications were SPAs and leveraged modern frameworks like VueJS and React.- Detailed analysis for each feature release that included security threat modeling and threat mitigation testing and validation, as well as operational readiness to ensure high availability and scalability.
