Patrick Elliott is a founding Partner of Next Capital. Next Capital is an independent private equity firm, specialising in expansion capital in Australia and New Zealand across a variety of sectors. The firm’s focus is on small to mid-market buyouts of businesses with an enterprise value of between $50 million and $200 million, as the Partners see this segment of the market as their core focus; as it has been for over 20 years.Prior to founding Next Capital, Patrick was an Executive Director of Macquarie Bank having joined the private equity division in 1997. During his time at Macquarie, Patrick led a number of highly successful buyout and expansion capital transactions across a broad range of sectors including Retail, Industrial and Consumer Products and Services. Prior to Macquarie, Patrick was a Partner at Ferrier Hodgson, Australia’s leading insolvency and restructuring specialist. His work for leading financial services companies, combined with hands on restructuring and expansion experience has given Patrick valuable commercial insight.His roles at Next Capital and Macquarie have covered deal origination, portfolio management and fund raising. Patrick initiated and managed a number of highly successful investments in both the expansion capital and buyout sectors including: JB Hi-Fi; Invocare; Aerocare and Scottish Pacific. Patrick served as Chairman of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL) in 2004.Patrick is a Director of several Next Capital investee companies, including the Alpha Group and the Lynch Group.
