[Served at various times during my tenure as Director, for a total of two years as A/ED.]As Acting Executive Director in British Columbia's Ministry of Finance, responsible for the Intergovernmental Relations and Income Security Branch supporting the Minister's stewardship of the Canada Pension Plan (national value: approximately $366 billion) and promoting BC's interests in regard to Major Federal Transfers such as Equalization, the Canada Health Transfer, and the Canada Social Transfer (national value: approximately $75 billion).

Fostering communication among the 2009/10 Class of Governors and assisting in the planning of Class events.

Currently a District Life Member with the Kiwanis Club of Victoria BC and a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Cascadia (internet-based club). Formerly a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sidney & Peninsula and previous Kiwanis Member of the Year for that club.

Elected to serve as International Trustee for 2013-16 at the International Convention in Vancouver BC on June 28, 2013. While officially the term begins October 1st, the work began on June 29th, with training and a meeting with the Governor-Elects of the first three districts to be counseled over the coming year. Duties include: serving as a member of the International Board, participating on international committees, and serving as a counselor to three Kiwanis districts each year of the three year term.

Responsible for chairing meetings of the Past Governors Committee of the Pacific Northwest District.

Responsible for building a team of coordinators at the Division and Club level in support of a project to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus world-wide (www.theELIMINATEproject.org). This includes providing education and training, promoting the project, and seeking support for the project within the district leadership.

Responsible for the agenda, minutes, reports, and finances of the Past Governors Committee of the Pacific Northwest District. Created a 20-page handbook for Governor-Elect candidates.

Worked with experienced experts in membership growth representing a cross-section of the Americas, putting together terms of referene and a final report providing recommendations for how Kiwanis International can increase membership recruitment, retention, and new club building, with a special focus on young adults and former SLP members.

Provided support to the Governor and Governor-Elect. Participated on Executive Committee, Finance and Fundraising Committee, Fundraising Projects Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee. Voting member of PNW District Board.

Participated in conference calls to discuss progress on growth in North America West districts.

Pnw District

Appointed (as Governor) several district chairs in the mebership areas of Recruitment, Retention, New Club Building, and Diversity, and worked with them over a two-year period as Team Leader. With the New Club Building chair, oversaw the building of four new clubs in the first year (including assisting with on-the-ground club building efforts). Developed a new tool promoting May Membership Campaigns that was very successful in enhancing growth.

Chair of a 51-Member Board providing leadership and coordinating educational and other services for 10,000 volunteers in 350 local community service centers, grouped into 47 regional areas across 5 U.S. states, one Canadian province, and one Canadian territory, as well as providing oversight to 49 District Chairs working on 8 teams. Supporting the work of approximately 12,000 youth volunteers through mentorship of youth leaders and the appointment of administrators. Helped bring a divided district together and restore positive relations and trust within the district board. Developed a new fundraising tool for the district and clubs: the Kiwanis Partnership Program (www.kiwanisdecals.org). Implemented a new Outreach medallion and reception program that has brought in thousands of additional dollars to support youth leadership activities.

The Pacific Northwest District includes about 10,300 members of 350 clubs in 47 divisions grouped into 13 zones and represented by 47 Lieutenant Governors and served by about 30 committee chairs and program administrators. The main roles of the Governor-Elect (and as of Aug. 16th, Governor-Designate) are to build and train a leadership team for the following year while assisting the Governor and serving on the membership and finance committees.

Established the PNW Builder Magazine, a full-color, 32-page magazine that focuses on service activities performed in the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis International, primarily at the club or division level. The primary purposes of the magazine are to promote Kiwanis, to enhance members' sense of "belonging" to an organization larger than their own club, and to promote pride in membership.

Encouraged clubs to engage in marketing & public relations, such as issuing media advisories and press releases and holding press conferences and media-friendly events. Promoted the "One Can Make a Difference" Campaign and distributed related promotional materials including newspaper ads and radio/TV public service announcements (PSAs).

Educated Kiwanis club and division leaders about K-Kids, the elementary school branch of the Kiwanis family of service organziations. Developed a club-building tool that was adapted by Kiwanis International for use with both K-Kids and Builders Club. Over the four-year appointment, the number of K-Kids clubs doubled and the number of members tripled.

Served as a member of the Pacific Northwest District Board of Trustees, representing Division 17 clubs. Held monthly division council meetings with Presidents and Secretaries of Kiwanis and Kiwanis youth clubs. Served as Public Relations Chair for a benefit concert that raised funds for the children of 9/11 victims.
