Z-waka is a VC-funded Singaporean digital healthcare startup, operating in Vietnam, Myanmar and expanding to other markets in Southeast Asia.I founded Z-waka with the vision to radically change how healthcare is provided in the developing world. I believe that empowering doctors is the key leverage to leapfrog healthcare. Z-waka allows doctors to connect, learn and share medical cases among each other. I am passionate about my work at Z-waka because of the large impact my work can have on the lives of people.I am applying my quantitative and technology skills and am in charge of product development, technology, financial modelling and investor relations.

In 2012, I decided to move back to my home country Myanmar and contribute to the development of the country that was just recently opening up from 60 years of isolation. I set up Thura Swiss as a market research and consulting company. Within a couple of years, the company became a leading research agency, which counted both local and foreign companies as well as multilateral agencies among its clients.We were repeatedly hired by the World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP, WHO, GIZ, JICA, USAID, DaNa Facility and other agencies to implement projects that had significant impact on the country. We implemented process mappings and recommendations for the Ministry of Commerce, Yangon City Development Committee, National Single Window project and others. In my role as a CEO, I was often interacting with ministers, business leaders and academics.Both local and international media are regularly featuring me as an expert on Myanmar.

During my term as President of the Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association, I organized the flagship Myanmar Entrepreneurs Summit with 2000 visitors and over 10 reputable international speakers, among them Jeff Hoffman, President of the Global Entrepreneurship Network. The event was opened by the State Counsellor of Myanmar.As the local host of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, we annually organize over 60 events around entrepreneurship in Myanmar.I was closely working together with the DaNa Facility, an organization established by UKAid, to promote Inclusive Businesses and Impact Investment in Myanmar. With the help of the Center for International Private Enterprise, I restructured the framework of the association to meet international standards and have a better governance. Further, I introduced electronic collaboration and membership management tools for all our members.

As a result of my good work in the PR Committee, I was elected as one of the four Vice Presidents of the association. During my term, membership grew from a couple of hundred members to 2000 members. I was part of government delegations to overseas. As a result of my close cooperation with UNESCAP, the British Council and other organizations invited me to participate and speak at conferences in Korea, New Zealand and Singapore.

The Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association is a leading organization that promotes entrepreneurship among young people. I joined the organization with the aim to connect to the local business community and have an impact on consultative processes with the government. Quickly, I realized that I could contribute a lot with my educational background and work experience.I took responsibility as a member of the Executive Committee and joined the association's PR Committee. As result of my work, the association became massively popular among young people.

The Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association is a founding member of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC). As the President of MYEA, I was part of the AYEC Board and have been acting as the treasurer.

Being elected to the small group of Central Executive Committee members of the Chamber of Commerce is an honor and validation of my good work to promote Myanmar's business environment. In my role, I am meeting foreign business delegations and continuing to represent my chamber as a jury member for the ASEAN Business Awards.

UMFCCI is the apex business chamber in Myanmar. I was elected as a member of the Executive Committee at a relatively young age due to high expectations of the business community that I can positively contribute to the business environment. I am often invited to meetings with foreign delegations to explain the Myanmar context and am asked for my inputs in advocacy work towards the national government.I have been nominated for 4 years in a row as the Myanmar representative in the jury for the ASEAN Business Awards, a highly prestigious prize that is awarded to successful ASEAN businesses.

After completing my doctoral degree, I decided to work in a fast moving environment that requires strong quantitative skills. Zurcher Kantonalbank was one of the top 3 banks in Switzerland for structured products. As a cross-asset exotic derivatives and structured products trader, I was responsible for managing risks, pricing and market making of products. With my colleagues, I was responsible of managing a portfolio of more than USD 2bn in value. Despite my employment during the big financial crisis, our team was very effective in managing risks and was even generating significant profits for the bank.I was designing and implementing new electronic tools and constantly working with the developer team to automatize issuing new products and make processes more efficient. As a result of my work, our team could price new products within 20 seconds instead of 5 to 10 minutes.

Zurich

During my doctoral thesis at the University of St. Gallen, I was embedded in the Credit Suisse Business Development Team Private Banking. I set up a database for Business Intelligence purposes and compiled the product and transaction data of all the bank's products in Switzerland. This allowed me to analyze and simulate various pricing scenarios, which were used by the bank's top management for product and pricing decisions. During this period, I developed strong skills in analysis of massive datasets and database management.
