Responsible for the the managment of the agarose resin technical team at Purolite. Leading NPD and commercilsation of agarose resins into dedicated production facilities for use in highly regulated environments.

I am responsible for the day to day management of the agarose technical team in Llantrisant, including R&D, applications, pilot, jetting and affinity resin production. Most of my time is working with our customers to develop customised resin solutions for purification challenges and with the commercial team on developing new business opportunities. Successes from the program include the entire Praesto resin range which encompasses affinity and IEX resins which are now used in FDA approved biologic production, the most notable products developed to date are Praesto Jetted A50 and Praesto AP which are market leading protein A resins used in downstream purification of biopharmaceuticals. Other aspects of the role include staff management, scale up from R&D to Pilot to Commercial manufacturing, continuous improvement projects in the production and lab facilities, all areas of technical transfer, working closely with the QA and Regulatory teams to maintain product and manufacturing quality which includes participating in supplier, customer and external audits.

The development and production of the Praesto family, Pure and IEXs: SP and Q. Building, design and commissioning of Purolite's dedicated agarose pilot plant. Prior to working on the Praesto agarose products I was part of the R&D team focusing on synthetic resins - both styrenic and acrylic polymers made in batch emulsification and mono dispersed production methods including both jetting and seeded processes to produce resins for chromatographic applications (small moleules and peptide purification).
