Hello there!My name is Patrick and I’m a current IT Engineer and Administrator. I've had a bit of an odd story.For the past decade I’ve devoted my life to education through learning about how to teach at Manhattanville College and making an impact on roughly 1,000 students as a music teacher in three separate school districts over roughly 6-7 years. As a music teacher, I gained invaluable interpersonal skills and knowledge of management techniques, the ability to do research, the ability to troubleshoot as a teacher and as an instrument repairman (for band instruments), the ability to effectively manage a limited amount of time, and the ability to plan large and small projects which I then saw to completion (concerts, grants, purchase orders, and budgets). Along the way the pandemic hit and, as a teacher, I became invested in all sorts of new technology to make remote education a possibility. This opened my eyes to a whole new passion of mine, which is the technology industry. I knew I had to join IT, so I earned myself my first certification (Google's IT Support Professional Certificate through Coursera) and started applying. I was fortunately able to make the transition to becoming an IT Support Specialist. Now, after roughly 7 months of working at Vectro, and 4 more certifications (ITF+, A+, Network+, Security+) I'm a systems and network Engineer and Administrator.On a daily basis, I'm working on solutions to network application issues, working with customers whose problems have been elevated, and working on multiple platforms such as Ninja RMM, Office 365, Google Domains and Workspaces, GoDaddy, and On-Prem Services.In Windows Environments I work on Active Directory, Hyper-V, VPN services, Remote Desktop Services and Gateways, and DFS etc.I also work regularly with firewalls (SonicWall mainly), switches (Cisco and HP) and networking appliances (various) and gateways.I've performed server, application, database, and software migrations as well as updated and deployed various network applications and policies.One of my hobbies lately has been automating some of these processes by scripting in Powershell.As a Security+ certified Engineer, I've been working with our COO to lockdown our many security appliances across the country.For my next steps, I've already earned my Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate and have passed my first test of Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert.
