My name is Patrick Hern and I'm a new graduate from the University of Washington Tacoma! I have worked in several groups with other students and taken a leadership role in them. When I'm not in the leadership role, I always soak up as much information about my other teammate's skills and knowledge. After all, there is always something to learn from another person!While at UWT I achieved a 3.87 GPA and made the Dean's list for all ten quarters I was at UWT. This is my greatest achievement, besides receiving my degree and winning a photography competition in high school!I understand I lack professional software development experience. However, when I'm presented with a problem I will work diligently until I find a solution. I do not give up easily and I will learn what I must to complete any task. When working in groups I am empathetic and focused on the task.My dad always likes to tell me (sometimes to my dismay) "You're either green and growing or ripe and rotting". However, I've taken this to heart and I am dedicated to growing and learning as a professional and person!

  Each week, I prepared two worksheets for my workshop. I worked for two quarters and classes, first Discrete Mathematics in Winter then Algorithms during the Summer. The workshops were made to supplement the main courses and provide group study opportunities for students on campus. In each session, students work together in groups to solve problems directly related to what they're learning. Difficulty usually leans on the harder side, encouraging teams to work together to find a solution. Then, they presented their solutions to the rest of the workshop. During presentations, the other workshop members are encouraged to analyze and constructively criticize their work, when applicable.
