I started my career in accounting and finance. I learned a lot with my years at Georgia Tech Research Institute and was quite successful in my position. In my final year I wrote more cost proposals for contracts than any other single employee as well as designed a training module for employees who were submitting travel and expense reimbursements. Due to a desire for a change in my career path, I left GTRI and began searching for a more customer focused industry. I have always enjoyed being a self starter and began at the bottom of the totem pole at Moondogs, a very large bar in the Buckhead area with a rich 25 year history as a bar back. It wasn't long until I was considered the floor manager, watching over security and the other bar backs. I was then made a bartender and shift manager and I now work as the facilities and operations manager. It may seem like a career downgrade, but the service industry mostly hires and promotes from within until you have the experience to apply for similar jobs. It is my desire to translate my current experience to the hospitality industry which I believe would satisfy my desire for a career focused on customer service and experience as well as offer me more stable hours and salary. I would welcome the opportunity to use my accounting experience within the hospitality industry as well.
