About Patrick Kirby

Patrick Kirby is an expert in global macroeconomic analysis with over a decade of experience spanning global trade modeling, nowcasting GDP in advanced economies, and analyzing challenges in emerging and low-income markets. Currently, he works as a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s South Asia Region Chief Economist's Office and is the lead author of the South Asia Economic Focus report which presents the institution’s view on the regional economy and associated policy challenges. His work has been featured in a wide variety of publications, including the Financial Times, Le Monde, and the Telegraph, and he has represented the World Bank at G20 meetings and events around the world. Previously, Mr. Kirby was a lead author of the World Bank's flagship Global Economic Prospects report. Prior to that, he was a Principal Economist at the Bank of Canada’s International Projection Division, where he contributed to the Monetary Policy Report and the Bank’s global macroeconomic model.
