Former Urban Executive; 40 years professional and managerial experience, mostly with Cork City Council; Principal professional interest remains the sustainable development (economic, social, environmental) of competitive urban areas through the quadruple helix approach; I also firmly believe that inequality can be reduced through multilateral action in open global systems and an enlarged role for the state in a democratic parliamentary system. This system must be governed by the rule of law, with an independent judiciary, and adhere to the universal values as set out in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. For avoidance of doubt, I wholeheartedly endorse the Black Lives Matter movement. I interpret this movement as demanding that Black Lives Matter Too as opposed to Only Black Lives Matter. It's a no brainer really to any true democrat.
