Former director of UBC Botanical Garden (including the Nitobe Memorial Garden), responsible for leadership and strategic direction. Prior to joining the Garden, Patrick was managing director of the Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics UBC, as well as on the executive of the UBC College for Interdisciplinary Studies. Prior to joining UBC, he was a senior consultant in Praxis Inc., one of Canada’s leading public consultation companies, and served in various positions, including executive director, on seven provincial royal commissions and commissions of inquiry. These included the Royal Commission on Healthcare and Costs, the Commission of Inquiry into Policing in BC, the Gove Inquiry into Child Protection, and the Commission of Inquiry into Workers' Compensation in BC.
