I was responsible for the collection, entry, and analysis of audio and written data for this project through several data programs, including Blackboard, ATLAS.ti, and F4, for data collected in Durham, NC on local activism in the food movement.

Over several years, I worked as a staff organizer in two distinct capacities, at this Local for graduate and undergraduate academic student workers at the University of California. Internal organizer: conducted member-to-member outreach (in person, by telephone, and by email), new member recruitment, organization of ongoing campaigns at the campus, local, and regional levels, coalition building and coordination with other area locals and social-justice organizations, focusing primarily at the level of the UC campus, where I was a participating member of the UC Labor CoalitionExternal organizer (PRO/UAW): identified and recruited members in the formation of the Union for postdoctoral scholars at the University of California. This involved both on-site recruitment and off-site contact through cold calling and home visits.

I coordinated and organized the data gathered in this project, tracking our progress toward the project’s specific research goals, such as numbers and demographic characteristics of interviewees, while maintaining records of the data collected. I was also responsible for much of the data entry, including tracking the project’s data through SPSS, NVivo, and AnthroPac analytical software.

Coordinated the planning and implementation of applied research involving the recruitment and training of community researchers in research design, data-collection, -entry, and -analysis; and coordination and collaboration with community partners in the eastern Coachella Valley, while serving as part-time instructor to Desert Mirage High School students in an after-school program on social science research.
