About Patrick Magara
I am a Social Development Practitioner and a Catholic Theologian and Philosopher. I started my journey in 1995 as a Catholic Missionary and Clergy and worked among the most vulnerable and marginalized in my country - Kenya, Uganda, Peru, Nuba Mountains in Central Sudan and South Sudan. In 2011, I joined VSO International and was first placed in Papua New Guinea to support in the management of education projects. After, I have continued working with VSO Kenya in different roles: volunteer selection and induction, social research, training, and knowledge, evidencing and learning. Between 2015 and 2023, I supported Shalom Centre for Counselling and Development in facilitating healing among communities affected by violence in Kenya and especially in Mt. Elgon. I am therefore well experienced in program and project management, capacity building, Participatory Action Research and evidencing social change, healing-centered peace building, youth mentorship and report writing. I am a people person who firmly believes that every person deserves to live a dignified life individually and collectively. It is possible for everyone to be, in the words of Mandaza Kandemwa, an ocean that rejects no river.
