I'm measuring the impact on the energy consumption of a corporation when using an opportunistic distributed file system. I'll also explore ways to make the energy consumption of these systems more efficient.

At Melon Tech, I worked as back end software developer on Turingo, a social network for tourists and tourism traders. There, I developed and maintained REST services using Java, RESTEasy and HBase.

I taught classes on "Object Oriented Programming" and "Algorithms and Programming Logic" during one semester for the department of informatics of the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia da Paraíba. In "Object Oriented Programming" I covered topics like classes, objects, inheritance and polymorphism. I used Java as the programming language for examples and exercises. In "Algorithms and Programming Logic" despite the pompous name the program covers only the very basics of programming: what are algorithms; control flow structures; how to compile, run and debug simple programs, etc.

I worked on the development of a distributed file system, the Nevoa Storage System. In this project I could learn a lot about the internals of file systems and the challenges faced to develop robust distributed systems. I wrote code in Java (a lot) and C/C++ (a little), worked in Windows and Linux environments and used technologies like FUSE and CBFS (kind of a proprietary FUSE for Windows)
