  Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Motor Carrier Services Operating Authority for-hire and private carriers and Over-Dimensional Permit Units. Responsible for planing work assignments and direct resources with the goal of providing excellent customer service and efficient work production in accordance with Federal, State and multi-juisdictional agreement laws, rules, and regulations. This position directly or indirectly supervisors a staff of 18, coordinates staff training and developments, monitors and accounts for all monies collected in the unit and manages and maintains the section computer records. This position communicates with other BMV sections, State and Federal agencies, Maine State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and jurisdictions to comply with the requirements of multijurisdictional programs including the transmission of funds to and from jurisdictions. Responds to written, telephone, and in person questions regarding Operating Authority, Over-Dimensional Permits, and commercial vehicle laws, rules, regulation, and procedures. Maintain and implement the changes under the Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) program. Corrdinate information exchange needed for Federal Motor Carrier Programs and State law enforcement.
