As the Manager of Rail Transportation at Hampton Roads Transit (HRT), I oversee the daily operations and performance of The Tide light rail system. I ensure safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. I work with a team of supervisors, operators, maintenance departments, and safety oversight to coordinate schedules, operations, training, and handle incidents/accidents, as well as to implement policies, procedures, and training programs. I collaborate with other administrative departments and external stakeholders (Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation) to support HRT's strategic goals and initiatives.I have a strong background and interest in maritime and transportation operations, which I developed during my education and previous work experience. I graduated from Old Dominion University (ODU) in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, in Maritime Trade and Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics, and a minor in Economics. I was also the President of the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of ODU, a student organization that promotes the maritime industry and connects students with professionals and opportunities. Before joining HRT, I was an Assistant Operations Manager at The Port of Virginia, where I managed stevedoring and intermodal rail operations, working with the port's International Longshoreman Association partners to move commerce to and through the Commonwealth of Virginia. I also completed the IMPACT Leadership Development Program, a comprehensive training program that prepares high-potential employees for future leadership roles at the Port.
