Reporting to both the GTSWCA and OSWCA Board of Directors, the overall mandate is to provide strategic leadership and direction for a large, network organization operating in the construction sector across Ontario. Responsible for the overall positioning and branding of the Associations, to expand the influence and understanding of the core infrastructure sector of the construction industry. Key objectives include government advocacy and strategy, labour relations and collective bargaining, membership development, stakeholder relations, and administrative and fiscal management.

• Responsible for policy analysis, research, government advocacy, and communications on a wide variety of infrastructure, environment, and continuous education issues. • Part of the Collective Bargaining team, which negotiated three collective agreements in 2016. • Chair of the Construction Industry Advisory Council to the WSIB and Board member with: Ontario Construction Careers Alliance; Construction & Design Alliance of Ontario; Ontario Skilled Trades Alliance; and, Infrastructure Ontario Construction Advisory Committee. • Led successful advocacy campaigns to: dedicate government funding to the water and wastewater sector (i.e. Clean Water and Wastewater Fund); reform the Permit to Take Water process; and, launch a government review of its Excess Soils Policy Framework. • Manage policy and regulatory issues, including preparing submissions to government and regulators, maintaining working relationships with government/regulatory stakeholders, as well as like-minded partners. • Organize executive briefings for MPPs, City Councillors, bureaucrats, board members.

• Operated as Acting Director of Government Relations (July 2012 – May 2013) of ORBA during a maternity leave;• Responsible for the promotion, communication, and advocacy of ORBA’s policy positions with political representatives, bureaucrats, media, and other key decision-makers;• Manage and lead ORBA’s Occupational Health and Safety/WSIB, Transportation, and Environment Committees to identify and develop policy positions and activities in support of ORBA’s organizational strategic objectives;• Develop and implement policy positions and activities, upon approval from the Board of Directors, utilizing mix of promotional tools and approaches (social media, letter writing campaigns, membership bulletins, news releases, etc);• Develop relationships and strategic partnerships with like-minded stakeholders to enhance advocacy and promotional efforts;• Participate in regular membership programs for all ORBA members and act as a note-taker to ensure action and forward progress on discussions between meetings; and,• Participate in planning and development of annual ORBA events, including President’s Tour, Annual Meetings and one-off events, as required.

• Develop an international engagement strategy for Canadian development assistance, supporting larger Government of Canada strategic international goals;• Provide policy advice and briefing materials to the Minister of International Development and CIDA senior management, including penning the first draft of the Canadian Statement delivered by Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the opening of the UN General Assembly in September 2010;• Act as a liaison between government departments to coordinate input into various tracks of the G8 Summit process;• Coordinate briefing books for senior management, including for the Minister’s involvement in international summits;• Involved in drafting an agreement with the Government of Brazil on trilateral cooperation; • Research, write and analyze information on other bilateral donors, specifically, maintaining “living” profiles on roughly fifty bilateral donor countries; and,• Facilitate and maintain working intra- and inter-government relations.
