As a BSW intern working with a team of masters level students, in 2017, we worked through the final stages of implementing the Community Engagement pilot program aimed at reducing recidivism. I developed paths within the jails computer system for the team to access and store our client information. Additionally I revised the social work intakes and assessments now used by the current Eastern Michigan University students. Currently I am working with EMU's Social Work faculty to deliver a comprehensive training for incoming interns to be engage in practical exercises. Our goal is to prepare BSW and MSW interns to handle the diverse cliental within the jail and enhance their ability to work effectively with the correctional officers. Secondarily, my role is to assist with logistical needs along with providing insight into the collection and presentation of data related to the reduction of recidivism for annual review.

The food pantry provides food to EMU students and staff who need assistance. My role was to stock the pantry, tend the pantries garden, and develop a plan for annual contribution with in EMU's faculty departments as a final assignment.

During this 120 hour, observation, internship I traveled with HOM's MSW social worker to client's homes and to elder care facilities to gather needs and provide interpersonal support to both those on palliative care and their families. I was given the opportunity to work with the nurses and spiritual care advisors, which developed my perspective of the extent of field work.

New members of the gym are offered a complimentary fitness assessment with the option of utilizing one of the facility's licensed personal trainers. Detailed fitness information was provided to clients, after the assessment, to promote safe and effective workouts, while providing insight into fitness myths and tips. Our goal was to meet individual needs and help clients tailor their fitness plan to their current level, past injuries, and personal goals. Clients also received a personal fitness planner to track their progress since their initial assessment.

Vilseck, Germany

From 2009, I trained and deployed as an infantrymen team leader from 2010-2011 to Afghanistan. We engaged local leaders and residents in conversation about issues in the region. We also collected biometric information while on patrol in local villages. Our company constructed three bases to operate out of and we successfully secured the area for the first time. I was placed over a team of four to train and maintaining the teams equipment and operational standards, while ensuring cohesion and camaraderie.
