I was awarded a NSF Dissertation Improvement Grant (#1719283) and created and directed a full coverage archaeological survey of the Upper Moche Valley of Peru. The project, PARFAM (Proyecto Arqueológico Reconocimiento de la Frontera Alto Moche), was focused on understanding ancient frontier dynamics in a 55km2 area that in prehistory, and today, is a geographic borderland between highland and coastal Peru. I led survey crews, Peruvian and American, in controlled surface collections and survey in this area in addition to the ceramic analyses of the over 16000 sherds collected.

This job entailed leading and instructing students in archaeological survey, drone aerial survey, GIS analyses, PXRF analyses, ceramic analyses, excavation, database creation, project design, and community development projects in the Moche Valley of Peru. This job included logistics coordination (food, lodging, transportation) for crews of 5-12 individuals for 1-2 months.
