Patrick was elected President of the Queensland Association of State School Principals Association (QASSP) starting in the role in January 2022. In the role Patrick represents over 337500 primary school students across Queensland and 1300 school leaders. Patrick brings to the role a wealth of experience having led a P-12 college with in excess of 1800 students and almost 300 staff. He has a national perspective of school leadership having been a board member of APPA since 2021 and was also the treasurer of AGPPA for five years. As a school leader Patrick was known for re-culturing schools and aligning staff and the community to a coherent and dynamic vision. He is an innovative school leader who is passionate about ensuring students maximise their potential. Putting students first, is fundamental to his approach to educational leadership. He is committed to building a school community that embraces the culture of the school and creates significant partnerships with the wider community. Patrick in his leadership of Ashgrove State School ensured that it stayed at the forefront of the education delivery by leading the school into being one of the first 26 Independent Public Schools in Queensland. In his leadership and management of the school, Patrick ensured that the flexibility of the program was utilised to create cutting edge curriculum programs that were tailored for the needs of the student at Ashgrove State School. Patrick was also Vice-President of the QASSP for seven years and has been a member of the QASSP Biard for the last 13 years. The Investing for Success has been a great outcome of the strategic advocacy through QASSP. The Investing for Success has been identified as a lighthouse approach to school funding which has ensured that Queensland schools were the envy of schools throughout Australia.
